haircut

We went last night to get Ari's hair cut for the first time professionally. I have always done it (with the assistance of AJ) and have done a pretty good job. But this time was different seeing that he hadn't had it cut in many many months and the back was much longer than the top. I wanted his hair to get long but we are leaving for Florida this weekend and I didn't want him to get funny tan lines with long hair that was growing uneven.

Vacuuming is one of his favorite past times, so you can imagine how thrilled he was when the lady decided to vacuum right next to him.

I was so proud of him for sitting still. He got to watch daddy get his hair cut at the same time and he didn't move the whole time. He is such a big boy these days.

His English is picking up here and there, but he still signs for most things. He says ba-, da-, du-, and can almost spell the B-I-B-L-E. His version is the B-I-B-I-B. So cute. His favorite song is "This little light of mine" and gets his little light out to hide under a bushel. He even opens his hands up like a book when we say Bible and folds his hands to pray. I can't believe how fast he is growing up. I can hardly remember what it was like to have a baby that was so reliant on a parent. But he is very self-motivating now and likes to do things on his own.

ramblings

The last month has been a roller coaster of emotions. Happy, sad, desperate, confused, excited, and disappointed. For a while I was on the "happy" coaster and it was easy to blog multiple times a week because things were going great. When things start to get bumpy I like to climb in my hole and never come out. Putting up pictures of Ari would help time pass quickly but I dare say that I won't be doing that for a little while either. He had a run-in with my hair straightener so now we will be taking a break from pictures for a while. He is doing just great and is a champ. In fact, he handled himself tons better than I did. When accidents happen it's hard not to blame yourself or feel guilt that you might have scarred your child for life - and literally. But things are healing up just fine and will have to do an outstanding job of keeping his face out of the sun for a while. With Florida just a week away that will be an interesting task. Have I ever mentioned how much I love my husband? I am so blessed to have such an understanding man, one who never judges me and accepts me for who I am. Even when I make mistakes.

Oh, by the way, does anyone know how to delete comments that are in chinese? Apparently I have made friends across the world. ha ha

with family

There is nothing like having a close family, and I am so happy Ari gets to grow up knowing he is loved by such a wonderful family.

Catching up on some tummy time that he NEVER liked doing at his cousins age. She is four months now!

Eating graham crackers in his tent at grandma and grandpa's.

Sharing his bouncy horse with his second cousin who came all the way from Anderson to visit.

I was surprised we got this smiley picture!

And of course I had to put one of Ari and his goofy self. He is such a ham and loves to get attention. But I'm not telling you something you don't already know. He loves to make people laugh.

Slacker

Ok, so I'm a slacker. I can't even manage to update even when I say I'm going to. These last few weeks have been a little crazy. My work schedule changed so I am supposed to be working 5 days a week now, nearly full-time. I haven't been full-time since the week before I delivered Ari, so now I have been scrambling to find time in the evenings and weekends to clean house and spend time with family. Needless to say I am alive and will hopefully post some pictures soon.

Mark and Jamie

There are two families I would like to ask you to pray for, but I will share about just one for now. AJ has a coworker/friend who's husband Mark has a kidney disease. It is genetic, so his sister also has it. They both had living donors lined up because the disease is rapidly worsening. The donor for the sister fell through, so Mark released his donor for his sister. Afterwards, he just found out that his condition is worse than they thought. Thankfully, they are believers and have trusted in the Lord that His plan is the best plan, no matter what. But as we wait to see what that plan is, I would like to ask you to pray for their family and three daughters. Specifically, that another donor will be found for Mark but more importantly that this situation will bring glory to God. Also, the fundraising event for his transplant is taking place next weekend, so please pray for a successful event. In case you are in the area and would like to participate (or would like to donate a kidney), here is the information.

Saturday, April 17th 8am
Neighborhood Run/Walk located at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church with suggested donations
The address is 381 N Bluff Rd, Greenwood 46142

Sunday, April 18th Noon - 5p
Blood drive, Silent auction, family activities, and $10 manicures and/or haircuts

Sounds like "Go Dawgs"

He doesn't really speak English yet, but I sure heard him say Go Dawgs!
