Christmas festivities

Since we got back in town from Thanksgiving, we have been on a dead run. We had something scheduled every night last week and even over the weekend. Thursday night was the most fun though. AJ's company had its annual Christmas party at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. This is always a special event because it was our first date we ever went on...five years ago. It's amazing how fast time flies, but it's even more amazing how much we've changed since then. Oh the things God's taught us...

But back to my story. I find this completely random because my friend Heidi had a similar experience at her husbands Christmas party. There was no tie contest, but we did earn a lot of tickets to put in for door prizes. Only employees can win, and they can only win once. Well, there were 40 prizes we could have entered in for, but we decided to narrow it down to four to better our chances of winning. It had been a few years since AJ won something so we were pretty confident when we had a lot of tickets. Our first choice was a camera, because we had lost ours months ago and never found it. (Pretty inconvenient because it was Ari's birthday and I never got a picture of him on his actual birthday.) Anyway, and our second choice was a $100 gift card to Fogo de Chau, a brazilian steakhouse. Well, the camera drawing was first and we did not win that. Which was surprising because we had half of the tickets in that one. But we did win the other one, even though we only put 4-5 tickets in there. We did not get the opportunity to trade prizes with anyone (any takers, Heidi? :)), but I figured it was best this way. I know we would go buy a camera when necessary, but we would not dish out the moolah for an expensive restaurant. (As AJ says, we are on the Dave Ramsey diet.)

Saturday was also a whole lot of fun. It was our annual Cookie Day! This is a tradition my aunt started with all the cousins on my mom's side of the family a long long long long time ago. Well, for as long as I can remember. We pretty much bake cookies all day long until we can't possibly make any more.

Mmmmm...my favorite is the 7 layer cookies.
